Making the most of testimonials...
Are your visitors gaining trust when they visit your website or do they feel isolated from you and unsure if you deal with their peer group...?
Testimonials are the answer for your website - they can engage with visitors and reinforce the high values that you provide for your customers.
Research has shown that people generally distrust the web sites they visit until they find several trust factors (those things that reinforce the trust rather than take the trust away).
Missing out on any of the trust factors may mean visitors act on the negative factors rather than the positive messages.
If too many people are visiting your web site and not converting into sales or enquiries it could mean they don't trust you enough to make contact or to buy.
Converting visitors into raving fans directly adds to your bottom line - which means more income for you - and a growing ever larger fan base becomes your virtual sales force letting potential new customers just how good you are.
Having a page with some testimonials is a great start - this can include names, locations and what people have said.
This reinforces the geographical areas that you service and can add to some of the information about your services.
This can be improved in several ways - adding a photo has been shown to improve the relationship angle as you can see the quote is from a real person - especially if they are shown holding the product or using the service.
Adding context is great way to improve the worth of a testimonial - tell the full story about the pain the client had - and how you removed it.
Expand the testimonial into a case study and add pointers back to the various products or services that the clients talks about in the case study.
These pages are great search engine bait too - so make sure you use all the nice search engine friendly words that you can.
