Service Delivery Goal
To provide a Maori Clinical and Cultural Community based assessment, treatment and consultation liaison service within a Kaupapa Maori framework for Tangata Whaiora who have a diagnosed mental illness
The Kaiawhina will:
- Work in a supportive role to encourage and motivate whanau to maintain wellness in the community
- Work closely alongside Community Mental Health Services, Tangata Whaiora, Families and the wider community
- Develop with Tangata Whaiora and their Whanau an individual support needs assessment

- Advocacy
- Transport
- Nursing Services
- Community Networking
- Clinical Appointments

Supported Accommodation
Short term up to 3 months
Planned Respite
Non-acute planned short stay available to give relief to families and caregivers.
Criteria:
- Reside within Turanganui A Kiwa
- 18 years or older
- Have an Axis I Diagnosis (diagnosed by identified psychiatrist or GP)
- Had 2 or more unplanned accommodation moves
- Unable to get paid employment
- Level of self cares has declined/deteriorated
- Relationship with whanau / social networks deteriorated
Kaiawhina will assist Tangata Whaiora and their Whanau in determining their support needs to achieve best outcomes
