ec Toolset Features

Not all Web Based Content Management Systems are created equal...

Below you will find descriptions of some of the many features of the e-c toolset and the reasoning behind their development & inclusion to the e-c toolset. Not all content management systems available today share our commitment to provide the very best features for the money...

My web site is bigger than your website...

The e-c toolset allow you to create any number of web pages and sections within your web site - without coming to us to do this for you. In this way your web site grows with you over time.

You can add new products - more information about existing products or whole sections on each product range with up to date information sources from existing users of the products. And it is not just products that change - take full control of every page on your web site.

Contrast this with a company that doesn't add pages to their web site because the web designer acts as a "gate keeper" between the owner of the web site and their web visitors.

www.what...?

The e-c toolset allows you to name each folder (directory) that you create. In this way you can keep a logical set of pages together in one section in the web system.

This also means that you can create a sub section for a project or a special interest group - and then go and tell folks about it easily.

So the folder name can be "spoken" as an "absolute web address":

You can create a "Project X" folder containing details about this new project and then use the following domain name to point people to it...
www.yourdomainname.com/projectx

Contrast that with some of these examples of sub section and sub pages from our competitors...

www.CMS_Competitors_Customer.co.nz/main.php?page=189

Or how about this one...

Could you accurately and quickly "speak" these section addresses to a customer over the phone - or remember them to suggest to clients to go and visit...?

Search Engines please index my web site!

The e-c toolset allow you to enter the page name for each page that you create in your web site. This is the actual "file name" that is seen and indexed by search engines.

Most of the highly trafficked search engines use the file name of a page (and also the folder name..!) to help "rank" the search results for a given search.

Being able to control the folder and page names allow you to better manage the way a search engine ranks your web pages.

Accessing levels of information - how web visitors navigate around your web site...

The e-c toolset allows you to create as many pages in as many sections as you need to get your message across - but how do web visitors see what navigation options there are available...?

Once a new page has been added you can add that page into the page navigation of any other page. In this way each section of the web site can have its own unique navigation structure so web visitors can quickly and easily scan the page links for the information that they want. The page links can be changed at any time to better reflect the content of the pages if this changes.

To make it even quicker to add the page link navigation to a new page the e-c toolset provides two methods for adding page navigation to a new page - you can copy the contents and the page links of an existing page when you create a new page - or you can easily add an existing pages navigation to a new page with only a couple of mouse clicks.

The e-c toolset also comes with a search function and a site map function for you to add into your web pages. Our experience has shown that every web visitor has a preference as to how they use the web navigation - some experienced web users prefer to use web site search engines rather then "guess" where you put the information they seek

How do web visitors interact with me...?

The e-c toolset provides several ways for a web visitor to interact with the information on your web site...

  • Reading the "fixed" information on your web site.
You edit the information on your web site from any web connected computer on the internet at any time. You can add images to the pages to reinforce the information presented - these could be any web optimised images such as graphs or full colour photos.

  • Downloading files from your web site.
Need to precisely format some information - or better still keep your copyright statement intact with the information? Not a problem - upload files to the web page to allow your web visitors to download them. Files can MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, Adobe PDF, Multimedia AVI & MPG and even ZIP files. The e-c toolset also provides your web visitor with a link to the plug-in to download and install to access the files. Also many corporate email gateways are not allowing emails with attachments through - so you can create an area on the web site and post the file to that for your email recipients to download the file.

  • Reading News Items or Calendar Items.
The quickest and easiest ways of getting information into your web pages is to use the News Component. This provides an easy "fill in the form" mechanism for adding content - items can also be entered today - released on the web page at any time in the future and then automatically retracted at a certain date. If you have events based information then the e-c toolset provides a large monthly Calendar to list all daily events in the month or a small thumbnail calendar for web visitors to click on to see each days events. There are no limits to the number of News or Calendar Components that you can install on your web site and web visitors can print off all events in a single month or the information for each News or Event Item. These can also be places in passworded area of the web site too.

  • Discuss Ideas in a Forum with you - or with other web visitors.
The e-c toolset allow you to place forums on any pages with your web site. Forums come in two types - moderated for the public parts of the web site so that nothing gets published on the public side until you have moderated or "OKed" it - and un-moderated where forum messages that are posted to a passworded area can be immediately published without intervention from you. Every forum posting can be edited by you at time to ensure that spelling is consistent or to remove any objectionable material. Forums can be placed in passworded areas of the web site too.

  • Please Fill-in the form with how we can help you.
The e-c toolset allow you any number of fill-in forms on your web site. You can make the forms as long - or as short as you need. The e-c toolset allows the standard types of fill-in form fields for you to use such as: text box, text area, check box, radio box and Yes / No options. You can add some validation to the information to ensure that the web visitor fills in the information properly. The information is emailed to you and also put into a database file for you to download and use in a spreadsheet or database program. There are no limits to the number of forms that you can have on your web pages.

  • Direct Email "Member" Database and "Mail Room" feature.
The e-c toolset comes complete with a mechanism for your web visitors to subscribe themselves to your direct email database - you can use the e-c toolset to send the entries in the database an html formatted email - without having to use your internet connection. This is a good thing as some ISPs and corporate gateways are now filtering for SPAM activity - and if you are on a dial up connection you don't want to send out regular emails often...!

What do your web visitors want when they visit...?

The e-c toolset captures the search terms that your web visitors are using. This can be very interesting as it's the information that the web visitors "want to find" rather than our ideas of what we think they want.

The e-c toolset also records the "click-throughs" that occur when your web visitors click on a link from your web site - in this way you can track who you are sending traffic to for potential revenue streams or for linking arrangements.

Tracking also happens when your web visitors click onto a file to download and read - so you can see the types of information that your web visitors are most hot about.
